From behind the cabinet: Rebel Force - Mix Gone (reggae/dub)
Wednesday, September 20, 2006, 09:14 PM - Music, - ??, English
Deliberately vague.
A-side is Root's Man by Ta-Teacher Love.
B-side is Mix Gone by Rebel Force, but clearly a dub version of Root's Man.
Arrangement by Bob West, no writer mentioned.

Got it on a clearance sale.

Not shared anymore. Complaints received.

Nice idea: a Commodore 64 orchestra
Wednesday, September 20, 2006, 06:15 PM - Music, English

But I expected an orchestra whose instruments are Commodore 64s.
This is a concert where a traditional ensemble plays melodies of Commodore 64 games.
:-(

Van achter de kast: Paul Tornado - Van Agt Casanova (1977, NL, Punk/New wave)
Tuesday, September 19, 2006, 07:49 PM - Music, - NL, Nederlands

Mensen, ga jullie werk doen!

From behind the cabinet: Those Naughty Lumps - Iggy Pop's Jacket (1978, UK, Punk/New wave)
Monday, September 18, 2006, 07:04 PM - Music, - UK, English
A fairly unknown Liverpool band. Sounds much like the Members, but who knows them. Short punky songs with fender guitar.
I heard it on the radio. Every Saturday I listened to John Peel's Music on BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) that was aired by a nearby military station in Germany.

I don't know how I got it. Maybe in Amsterdam (No Fun on the Rijnstraat) or Nijmegen or somebody brought it from London. No internet shops at that time.

From behind the cabinet: Instant Composers Pool (1972, NL, Weird)
Sunday, September 17, 2006, 06:13 PM - Music, - NL, English
When rearranging my living room, I discovered some hidden records.
Most of them are odd, I will publish them the next days.

Starting with this 5" flexi of the Instant Composers Pool, a dutch improvisation band. Most of its members are now in the Willem Breuker Collectief.
This record was distributed for free at high schools as promotion for the CJP (Cultural Youth Passport).

A combination of psych, weird, blues and free jazz.
I think it's very rare.
On the other side was a song of Solution, another fine dutch band, taken from their lp Divergence, still available on cd in the shop.

Pat Cool - Day Break (1973, NL, Canterbury)
Saturday, September 16, 2006, 04:42 PM - Music, - NL, English
Band from the south of the Netherlands (Limburg, Tegelen).
Typical dutch early 70's sound: jazzy, mainly instrumental with lots of Hammond organ and some flute.
Sounds a bit like Solution, Supersister and Focus (without guitar).
Gé Titulaer sings horrible english, even I can hear that.
But the instrumental parts dominate and they are very good.
By the way, Gé is the father of the Dutch Idols winner 2004 Boris Titulaer.

Gé Titulaer: Keyboards, flutes, vocals
Huub Timmermans: Keyboards
Tom van der Schoot: Bass
Peter Tiggelers: Drums

Side 1:
1 When somedays [8:50]
2 What are you about [4:35]
3 For all who really had to cry [9:40]

Side 2:
1 Day break [4:40]
2 I wish [7:55]
3 There has been a change in me [8:45]

(there are three scratches on 'I wish', sorry for that)

Extra:
The sun king found his kingdom here [4:20] (not my rip, found it somewhere on the web)

Wiel's Web Radio
Thursday, September 14, 2006, 10:57 PM - Music, English
I have my own web radio.
There is a link between the 'Links' in the right column.
But nobody notices it.
So here the big announcement.

I like sounds.
Don't expect songs or even melody.
All own recordings.

Happy floating...
