Clock DVA - Pandora's Music Box 1983 (UK, new wave)
Tuesday, July 17, 2007, 06:09 PM - Music, - UK, English
Clock DVA was a group from Sheffield in different lineups around Adi Newton (vocals, electronics).
The name was inspired by the Russian-influenced Nadsat of Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange. Dva is the Russian word for two.

Armoury Show - Pandora's Music Box 1983 (UK, new wave)
Friday, July 13, 2007, 06:03 PM - Music, - UK, English
The coming time I post some radio recordings from the Pandora's Music Box festival in Rotterdam 1983.
Often I don't know the names of the songs and I didn't split them, so in the post you'll find one big mp3 file. You can split it yourself without re-encoding with mp3DirectCut, you can get that program for free.

Armoury Show was:
Richard Jobson: vocals (Skids)
Russel Webb: bass (Skids)
John McGeoch: guitar (Magazine, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Visage)
John Doyle: drums (Magazine)
The band was named after the Armory Show, a famous 1913 modern art exhibition in New York.

Honey Bane - Turn me on - Baby love (1981, UK, new wave/electronic)
Friday, July 6, 2007, 06:43 PM - Music, - UK, English
Honey Bane (real name Donna Tracy Boylan) could be the forerunner of the cosplayers in Japan. But before she became a cutie, she was part of the Fatal Microbes, Poison Girls and Crass.
In this post two of her singles, or in fact three, Turn me on Turn me off is a double.

Jimmy Pursey of Sham 69 produced this record:

According to Wikipedia she was a pin-up model for erotic magazines in the late eighties.

John Keating Incorporated - Hits in Hi-Fi 1 (1974, UK, lounge)
Friday, May 25, 2007, 02:54 PM - Music, - UK, English
"The songs are all from the 70's and are performed entirely (with the exception of the rhythm section) on electronic keyboard instruments, some of which at the time of recording were prototypes."
(from the sleeve notes)

They forgot to mention the electric fuzz and wah-wah guitars.
Amongst the keyboards that were used are ARP Odyssey, Davolisint, VCS 3, Farfisa Syntorchestra, Freeman String Synthesizer and Mellotron 400.
The players were John Keating himself and Francis Monkman of Curved Air.
Despite all of this, it still remains middle of the road music. Although well produced, often used as demo record for hi-fi stereo equipment. Engineered by Peter Vince.

Side one:
1 Love's theme
2 Touch me in the morning
3 You are the sunshine of my life
4 Eye level
5 Dreaming

Side two:
1 Never never gonna give you up
2 You're so vain
3 The show must go on
4 Vadi via
5 Where you lead

Passage - About Time (1979, UK, new wave/electronic)
Thursday, May 3, 2007, 09:30 PM - Music, - UK, English
Last weeks, a couple of 7"s were lying near my turntable, but I could not bring myself to rip them. Every time I stumbled upon a library or other odd lp.
Finally, here is the first one: the second concept single of Passage, About Time, you can say that. It took them about a year to release this after the first one, New Love Songs (which I posted in October last year). The music is a bit like the early Cure and the Monochrome Set. Produced by David Cunningham, who formed and led the Flying Lizards.

Side 1:
Sixteen Hours / Time Delay [7:02]

Side A:
Taking My Time [2:42]
Clock Paradox [2:29]
